Outstanding Online Presence Award Recipient (2020-2021 and 2021-2022)

Online Presence Award

Each year the Student Engagement and Leadership (SEL) team, that oversees the 500+ student organizations on campus at West Virginia University, hosts a Student Organization Excellence Awards Banquet. Here, student organizations are recognized for various aspects of operating from service initiatives to leadership to marketing and so forth. Women in Business has been fortunate to be recognized twice (2020-2021 and 2021-2022) for our outstanding online presence.

Our Vice President of Public Relations, Deanna Crumm led our organization's marketing strategy, which included a rebrand from WELCOME (Women Empowering, Leading and Changing through Opportunity, Mentorship, and Equality) to WiB (Women in Business). In addition to a name change and new logo design, former President Nina Han and Crumm built this website. Furthermore, Crumm revamped the social media strategy to fit with our organization's rebrand and created a marketing committee to interact with and encourage more WiB members interested in marketing (content creation, research, scheduling, data analytics/insights, etc.). During the 2021-2022 school year, Claire Dursa was also brought on as WiB's Director of Social Media to continue maintaining our online presence to stay relevant and engaging. We are proud to continue providing motivational content to our members and followers that conveys our mission: to unite and empower women.

Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award Recipient (2021-2022)

Also at the SEL Student Organization Excellence Awards Banquet, a faculty advisor is chosen for their remarkable dedication, leadership, and support to their student organization. Dr. Lauren Cooper is well-deserving of this award as she exemplifies all that it stands for. She is a key resource, advocate, and mentor to our members. We are so thankful for her continued involvement with Women in Business to help our organization stay innovative and achieve our mission to unite and empower women focused on success and equality in the workplace.
